Bantams Continue Strong Play thru October
The Motor City Chiefs Bantam A 95's continued to improve and thier strong play as they continue to battle for the Top spot in the Little Ceasers League , Lindstrom South Division. The Bantams improved thier League record to 4-1-1 to begin November with a 6-2 Victory over the Trenton River Rats On Monday Night at the Ice Box.
The Chiefs came out hard as they pounded the Trenton Defensive zone putting 16 shots on the Trenton Goalie in the first period Matt Hartford would find the back of the net at 10:51 on a tip from a point shot from Marshall Hemme from a Vinnie Jelsamino Pass. Going into the second period with a 1-0 lead the Chiefs kept putting the pressure on the Trenton Netminder however they continued to come up fruitless in thier endeavors. At 3:42 Josh Simmers scored on an excellant pass play set up by Jake Bates and Vinnie Jelsamino. However Trenton was not going to sit back and watch the paint dry as they launced thier own offensive attack and in a little over two minutes Trenton would tie the score on goals by Birmingham and Louria to end the 2nd period 2-2
However in the 3rd period the Chiefs took matters into thier own hands as the scored 4 times , Josh Simmers converted at 13:01 on a pass from Logan Lambdin and then at 7:34 Simmers returned the favor as Lambdin scored with helpers from Simmers and Marshall Hemme and then at 7:01 Matt Hartford converted at Dominic Moore , Vinne Jealsamino pass. Chiefs Settle for Tie against Sylvania
the Chiefs and Sylvania Leafs met for thier 3rd time in 7 days this past Saturday at Tam O Shanter Arena. This was a game that left all of the coaches just shaking thier heads as Sylvania came from behind to tie the Chiefs 2-2 in LCAHL league play. "What was puzzeling is that we could not score stated Coach Dan Vasquez. We took 44 shots on goal , not discounting the fine play by thier goaltender, however we just were snake bitten today. We have domintated the Sylvania Team in all three games however we have 2 ties and 1 loss to show for our efforts. For Boxscore click the following link
Chiefs dominate Michigan Travelers on the Road
The Chiefs 95 Hockey Club traveled to Fraser to face off against the Michigan Travelers in LCAHL League Crossover action. The Chiefs managed an 8-3 Victory highlighted by a 5 point(2 G 3 A) performance by Dominic Moore. Logan Lambdin, (2G) Corey Spaulding (1g 1A) Vinne Jelsamino (2A) had two points each, while Matt Hartford (1G) Josh Simmers (1G) Jake Bates (1G) Marshall Hemme (1A) had one point.
Chiefs Runner-ups in West Michigan Chill Tourney
The Motor City Chiefs hit the road for the West Michigan Chill Tournament in Battle Creek Michigan October 25th and 26th. The Chiefs had decisive victory's over the Chill and the Lansing Pride before having to face off twice against the Sylvania Mapleleafs on Sunday 1st for the round robin and thenf for the championship. In the Sunday Morning contest Sylvania and the Chiefs battled to a 3-3 tie setting up the championship game in the afternoon.
The Chiefs came out flat in the Championship game as Sylvania took advantage of their chances an managed a
4-2 Win over the Chiefs in a game which was marred by two many penalties in the Chiefs end allowing Sylvania to many power play opportunites. The Chiefs whom were already shorthanded due to players out due to illness could not muster up enough excitement to overcome the penalties thus costing the tournament Title.
